WAR Advocacy Center moving Forward!

May 2, 2013 in News by B.David

Just a quick update for everyone we have been working daily on rehabbing and renovating the new War Advocacy Center, it’s been a lot of work, the unit has been cleared out, all the flooring ripped up, we were lucky enough to get the bathroom and conference room painted and the first coat on the kitchen area, here are a few pictures of what we walked into, they are phase 1 and 2 (before and after clean out).

We consider this a blank canvass and a work in progress. A very special thank you to Dave Federer for donating the cameras, wifi and doing all the wiring on our building, we have video cameras now. Thank you to Harry for the paint and paint supply donations. This has been a lot of hard work but it worth it! We are expecting to be fully operational in a month Read the rest of this entry →

February 6, 2013 in News by B.David

Following the devastating fire at 2500 Jacato Drive that displaced over 20 people from small babies to older adults the outpouring from residents has been outstanding. Those residents that didn’t lose everything from fire damage, lost many items from smoke and water damage.

Goodwill Industries contacted “We Are Racine” to offer their assistance in helping victims replace items that may not have been donated by the public. They expedited the paperwork and are working in conjunction with WAR and residents to ensure that they will not be forgotten or fall through the cracks. Read the rest of this entry →

The Community Comes Together For Jacato Fire Victims

Some of us were on scene during and for hours after the fire working with the residents to comfort them, assure them that things would be ok and to be there FOR THEM. The community stepped forward in the minutes, hours and days following the devastating fire. Read the rest of this entry →
